Changes to the long term visa system.
10/12/2010
As of January 1st 2011 there are some large changes coming to the Czech visa system. It appears that the Ministry of the Interior will take over responsibility (from the foreign police) more of residency permit system.
"Should the amendment to the Act on the Foreign Nationals´ Residency not enter into force on 1 January 2011 as expected, the Ministry of the Interior offices will host officials of Foreign Police which will act as administrative authority . Once the amendment enters into force, their agenda will be taken over by officials of the Ministry of the Interior."
What this means to you.
The foreign police offices will move (again).
More correctly, most of the process that are currently carried out by the foreign police (visa renewals etc) will move to Ministry of the interior offices. And while the legal acts and amendments are taking place the foreign police will work in the Ministry of the interior offices.
