Czech long term and permanent residency
There will be a new residence permit card
(both long-term and permanent residence)
From May 2011, residence permits will contain biometric data.
3rd country nationals (not EU citizens and their family members) will be issued residence permit cards with biometric data.
Previously issued residence permits remain valid for the period specified.
New permits
Once a new long-term or permanent residence application is accepted, the applicant will be obliged to attend the relevant regional office of the Ministry of the Interior for taking biometric data (face image and fingerprints) within 3 business days upon the entry into the CR.
If a foreign national submitted such application during his/her stay in the Czech Republic, they will be called for the taking of biometric data by the Ministry of the Interior.
After taking biometric data and making the residence permit card the applicant will be called to collect the card by the Ministry of the Interior.
If a person fails to collect the long-term residence permit card within the stipulated time, the proceedings will be stopped!
If a foreign national fails to take over the permanent residence permit card within the stipulated term, he/she can be imposed on a fine of up to 10,000 czk
When extending the validity of the residence permit card or making a change to the data recorded in it, a new residence permit card is issued.
