Czech short term visa

Below is a qucik translation of the Czech foreign police webpage regarding the changes for a short term visa.

From 5 April 2010 will pay the EP and Council Regulation No 810/2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code), which further harmonizes the common visa policy, the Schengen states.
This regulation contains comprehensive rules for issuing short-stay visas (the so-called Schengen visa), which are visas that allow third-country nationals to reside in the territory of the Schengen states for up to three months during the six months since the first entry.
This visa is valid for the whole Schengen area (the exception is an airport transit visa and visa with limited territorial validity).

Visa Code replaces all existing legislation relating to short-stay visas and amended, inter alia, Regulation (EC) No 562/2006 of the Schengen Borders Code (see Article 54-56 of the Code of the visa).

Visa code in addition to bringing greater harmonization of existing rules as well as some major news.
These include the possibility of appealing against the refusal of visas, inc. justification (effectiveness deferred to the 5th 4th 2011), a larger number of those exempted from visa fees, the obligation for Member States to issue visas to meet the conditions for multiple-entry visas with longer durations or the Institute of the admissibility of the application for a visa.


Visa Code also contains rules for determining the Member State in which the visa application to be made and laid down the rule that a visa application to be filed in the State in which the applicant is allowed to stay (only exceptionally in the state where the applicant only "lawfully staying).
On the other hand, the visa code creates new opportunities for consular cooperation between Member States and commitment to the utmost to each other in short-term visas represent.

Visa Code establishes a personal presence of the applicant when applying as a rule, and simultaneously provides for exceptions to this rule (Article 10).

Visa Code further harmonize the lists of supporting documents (see Article 14 and Annex II of the Visa Code) attached to the visa application.
In this context, the effectiveness of the code used by the new visa invitation design, which reflects the choice of host, whether the applicant will pay all costs associated with staying in the area or just accommodation.


A new model of the application is included in Annex I to the Visa Code or the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Visa Code does not apply to holders of long-term visa / residence permit.
Visa rules do not change the code free stay in the Schengen area (ie, without prejudice to existing agreements on visa waiver under Article 20 Schengen Convention), reporting requirements (3 days for third-country nationals) and those relating to the Schengen Information System.
